Day 5 of 5

Your 30-day TikTok calendar (and how to know when to scale)

Today we close the loop. You have an account, the hook formulas, the trend playbook, and the local algorithm tactics. Now we organize it into a 30-day system that produces 12 videos and at least one breakout hit.

The weekly target: - 3 videos per week (Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday) - 1 live per 2 weeks (Wednesday or Sunday) - Daily engagement (15 minutes commenting on local TikToks)

Total time: 90 minutes per week shooting/editing, 105 minutes per week engaging. About 3.5 hours total.

The 4-week content calendar:

Week 1 β€” Foundation: - Tue: Hook formula #1 (Reveal). Your signature product, full-screen β†’ behind-the-scenes - Thu: Hook formula #5 (Big number). "I made X of [thing] this week. Here's what I learned." - Sat: Hook formula #7 (Day in the life). 5 AM to closing montage with text overlays

Week 2 β€” Voice: - Tue: Hook formula #2 (Cliffhanger question). "Why our [item] is different than every other [type] in [neighborhood]" - Thu: Live β€” cooking, styling, or making your signature thing live with Q&A - Sat: Hook formula #8 (Customer reaction). Real customer trying your thing for the first time

Week 3 β€” Trends: - Tue: Trending audio + format applied to your business (find a current audio that fits) - Thu: Hook formula #3 (Contrarian). "Stop doing X. Here's why." - Sat: Hook formula #6 (Mistake/correction). "Most people get [topic] wrong. Here's how to do it right."

Week 4 β€” Connection: - Tue: Hook formula #4 (Transformation). "Year ago vs. now" of your shop, dish, or business - Thu: Duet a local creator's video about your neighborhood - Sat: Live β€” Q&A about your business

Total: 12 videos + 2 lives.

Shooting batches. Don't shoot daily. Batch: - Monday morning: shoot 3 videos for the week in one 60-90 minute session - Edit on phone immediately or that evening - Schedule using TikTok's built-in scheduler (or post manually if you prefer real-time)

Caption framework. Every caption follows this structure:

Line 1 (hook): The same hook used in the video, restated in text for SEO and search Line 2 (context): One detail that adds value beyond the video Line 3 (CTA): What to do β€” follow, comment, visit Hashtags: 4-6 using the formula from Day 4

Example caption: "The secret to our broth that no one notices. (47 ingredients, 14 hours, and 30 years of family practice.) Want the recipe? Comment 'YES'. #ramen #brooklynfood #williamsburgnyc #ramenshop"

The engagement plan. 15 minutes a day. Open TikTok and: - Comment thoughtfully on 5 local creator videos (not "love this!" β€” actual sentences) - Reply to every comment on your own videos - DM 1 local creator a thoughtful note about their content - Follow 5 new local accounts that match your customer profile

This activity trains the algorithm that you're a local participant and surfaces your content to similar profiles.

The 30-day expected outcome:

For a new local business TikTok with consistent execution: - 12 videos posted - Total views: 30K-200K (varies widely; depends on whether you hit one viral video) - Followers gained: 300-1,500 - 1-3 videos that hit 5K+ views - 0-1 videos that hit 20K+ views (your "breakout") - Trackable foot traffic: hard to measure precisely, but most owners report 5-15 customers per month citing TikTok by month 2

If your follower count is below 200 after 30 days, something is off. Likely culprits: - Inconsistent posting (posting only 4-5 times instead of 12) - Videos longer than 60 seconds without strong retention - Generic hashtags (#smallbusiness instead of #yourneighborhoodbusiness) - No engagement with other local content - All videos look too polished/produced (TikTok rewards authentic)

If your follower count is 200-1,000 after 30 days, you're on track. Stay consistent. The compounding kicks in months 2-4.

If you're above 1,000 after 30 days, you've found a content angle that works. Double down. Identify your top 3 videos by view count and make 3 more in the same style.

The mental discipline. The single biggest factor in TikTok success for local businesses is consistency. Most owners post 4-6 videos, get discouraged when nothing goes viral, and quit. The owners who post 50-100 videos almost always end up with a meaningful audience. TikTok rewards persistence β€” every video trains the algorithm tighter on your audience.

Don't measure success by individual videos. Measure by: - Monthly follower growth - Monthly average views per video - Quality of comments and DMs (are real local people engaging?) - Trackable customer acquisition

When to scale. After 90 days of consistent execution, if you've hit: - 1,000+ followers - At least one video at 20K+ views - Consistent engagement from local accounts

Then it's time to layer in: - A second posting day per week (Tue/Thu/Sat β†’ Mon/Tue/Thu/Sat) - TikTok Shop or in-app product links if you sell anything online - Paid TikTok Ads boosting your best-performing organic videos ($5-$20/day budget) - Collaborations with local TikTok creators (use the influencer playbook)

What to expect at 6 months: 3,000-15,000 followers, 5-10 videos at 50K+ views, TikTok becoming a primary new-customer channel.

You graduated. The 5-day course is over but the system runs forever. Most owners drop off after 2 weeks of posting. The ones who don't end up with the kind of presence that defines a neighborhood business in 2026.
